PROTOCOL
SWTEP (Sleeping With The Enemy Productions) operates under a fixed production protocol.
The protocol defines how sessions are initiated, executed, and concluded.
It does not adapt to context, venue, or participants.
PURPOSE
The protocol exists to enable collective production under equal conditions, outside conventional authorship hierarchies and pricing logic.
STRUCTURE
Each production consists of a single, uninterrupted session.
A session is defined by:
– a fixed duration not less than 21 days
– a shared physical space
– a defined group of participants
Sessions take place in a publicly accessible space, openly, without restricted access, private working periods, or closed-door phases.
CONDITIONS
During a session:
– All participants work under identical conditions
– No hierarchy of value is enforced through authorship
– No curatorial intervention occurs
– No selection is made during production
– No prioritization of outcomes is allowed
All works produced during the session are considered valid outputs.
PRICING
Pricing is defined per session.
– A single pricing logic applies to all works
– Prices do not vary by artist, seniority, perceived value, or influenced by demand
– Pricing is not adjusted during the session
DISTRIBUTION
– All works produced during a session are released
– No editions are created
– No works are withheld for strategic reasons
Distribution follows the session’s predefined conditions.
DOCUMENTATION
Each production is recorded as a factual ledger.
Public records include:
– location
– dates
– participant names
– production scale
Internal processes, negotiations, and preparatory discussions are not documented publicly.
HOSTING
The protocol may be hosted by institutions, independent spaces, or private patrons.
Hosts accept the protocol in full, without modification.
Hosting does not confer:
– curatorial authority
– authorship
– control over outcomes
PARTICIPATION
Participation occurs by invitation or protocol-defined inclusion.
Open submissions are not accepted.
STABILITY
The protocol remains stable across productions.
Revisions, if any, are versioned and dated.
